Camp EXPERIENCE @ Bottle Tree Park!
--
my first camp assignment! pretty tiring (i got home at 3pm..slept from 4 to 8pm..and from 10pm to 930am the next morning)..
the first day first part was a bit..skeptical...cos the kids were quite hard to handle..too hyper..running here and there..and ..frankly the activities were not very enticing..
but of cos..there are things we as instructors can do to engage them more..even if its still not 100%.. for instance when u play catching, u can help them cheat a bit, shout and scream to add on to the atmosphere...help block their way..tease them..and when we were playing alphabet soup..i made it a point to keep lying to the blindfolded kid so that his classmates would shout more to him..then i'll shout opposite instructions and confuse them haha..and during the next game which was like minesweeper, there were times i gave them the correct square to step and they though i was lying again so they ended up getting bombed..haha so it was quite fun for me also..plus their tchr was really nice..and helped bring up the atmosphere quite a bit..and discipline them (:
sometimes these really do work because suddenly their instructor is in the game with them and the instructor can lose! the instructor can be caught!..to them i believe its their incentive..their motivation lol.
the later part of the day was much better when they started cooperating more..started playing more as a group..yea..kids still like catching (:
at night was not v nice for instructors..haha when we were making sure that they were aslp..my legs were trying not to break..after 1 whole day..and still having to walk up and down, up and down...haha its a bit monotonous and...haha given that i have a early slping habits..haha YAWNNN
anyway we bathed at 0030. and apparently the boys toilet had some commotion while the girls toilet was quiet. haha the guys were complaining abt being cold..and the girls were frantically bathing in silence cos it was bloody hell cold. seriously. even when i was slping i was shivering.
den we had 1h plus debrief by mojo..
abt 0230 we went to get our safari beds..and i was lucky to get the 2-3am sentry shift so half the shift was gone alr..
day2 was pretty short..but could feel the kids warming up..but sad to say..its a 2d1n camp so...off they go! yea but at least i feel happy cos..i dont feel my kids hating me haha (:
at least they said they would miss us (: and they kept asking when we wont go back to sch with them (:
yay!
instructors camwhoring at the end of everything!
